Acme Township Emergency Services
Acme Township Fire Department Station 8
The Acme Township Volunteer Fire Department was organized in 1947. Acme Township Fire Department (Station 8) has been operating from the same location since its organization. Thirty three years later and on October 15, 1980 the townships of Acme, East Bay, and Garfield established the Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department. It was through this new organization that the townships could offer the services of a modern, proactive department. Along with fire and medical response, this new entity could offer building inspection, site planning, burning permit, and public education. Please look at our annual report

Acme Township Community Policing
Our CPO, Brian Abbring, is dedicated primarily to serving Acme’s law enforcement needs. The CPO role is based on building relationships within the township, and for everyone to be familiar and comfortable with him. Success in a CPO role depends on communication. Everyone knows that if you have an emergency or are the victim of a crime you need to contact 911 right away. It’s also important to call your CPO about incidents, activities and individuals that make you suspicious or uneasy even if no actual crime has occurred. Often when CPOs follow up on a suspicious activity report, they are able to solve an outstanding warrant or string of crimes. For non 911 needs, call the Sheriff’s non emergency number at 231-995-5000. |
