Acme Township Assessing
Acme Township contracts its assessing services. Dawn M. Kuhns, Assessor. If you need to reach her she may be reached via her business cellular phone at (231) 409-1827 and email address [email protected]. Dawn can assist you with questions pertaining to assessing, taxes and the Land Division Act.
Dawn is required to maintain the assessing records, which includes annual assessments and taxable values, maintenance of the name, address, legal descriptions and homestead information of each property in the township. She makes inspections of properties to continually develop accurate assessing records. When an inspection is made of your property, a door hanger will be left at your door and measurements will be taken on the exterior of the home. The door hanger is a questionnaire asking for information about the interior of your home. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated when filling out this form.
There are various reasons that your assessed and taxable values can increase. The assessed value represents 50% of the value of the property and has no limit in which it can increase. Some of the reasons that an assessed value can increase is because of improvements made to the property and general market increases. Taxable values are capped at rate of inflation increases or 5%, whichever is less, unless there are improvements made to the property. Please reference the Proposal A page for further information.
