Acme Twp. Parks & Recreation

  Acme Township is home to extensive parklands and public recreation facilities:
  • Two developed parks:
    • Bayside Park (US 31 North, just south of the Shell station to the south of the US 31/M-72 intersection)
    • Sayler Park (Off Yuba Park Road on the west side of US 31 North in Yuba)
  • Two natural areas:
    • Deepwater Point Natural Area (off Shore Road opposite Bertha Vos Elementary School)
    • the Yuba Creek Natural Area (YCNA) spans about 400 acres. There is a scenic overlook on the east side of US 31 North opposite Bay Ridge, a parking area/trailhead on Yuba Road (former cherry processing site) and an access point on Bennett Road (near the curve)
  • Parklands within, but not owned by, the Township
    • The VASA trailhead on Bartlett Road (operated by GT County and the VASA)
    • Maple Bay Farms (owned/operated by Grand Traverse County)
    • the Gilroy Roadside Park (opposite the Bayview Inn, owned/operated by MDOT)

Sayler Park

Sayler Park is located about 3 1/2 miles north of Acme at the end of Yuba Park Road on East Grand Traverse Bay.  The park is open to the public with shelters that are available for rent. Reservations will be taken beginning January 2 for that same year. All reservations are confirmed upon receipt of payment, which is due at least two weeks prior to reservation date. Cancellations, with full refund, will be accepted up to two weeks prior to reservation date.

The following shelters are available for rent:

SHELTER #1 - is the smallest shelter available, providing 6 picnic tables capable of seating up to 48 people.  This shelter is located closest to Yuba Park Road.

SHELTER #2 - is one of two larger shelters, providing 10 picnic tables capable of seating up to 80 people.  This shelter is located closest to the restroom facilities.

SHELTER #3 - is one of two larger shelters, providing 10 picnic tables capable of seating up to 80 people.  This shelter is located furthest to the rear of the park.

All Shelters have access to:

Horseshoe pit Volleyball net Playground Equipment
 2 grills Modern Restroom Facilities Beach

RENTAL FEE SCHEDULE:

 

Acme Resident - $25.00 

Acme Businesses - $40.00

Non-Resident - $50.00
