The Marina Advisory is a sub-advisory to the Shoreline Preservation Advisory chaired by township property owner Jean Aukerman. She has extensive marketing and public policy experience with two Fortune 50 corporations, and also serves on the Board of a local mediation firm.
The advisory's specific task is to advise the Shoreline Preservation Advisory and the Board of Trustees as to whether and how it would be feasible and desirable for the township to acquire a partial interest in the East Bay Harbor Marina, or to perhaps see if the entire facility can be acquired as a municipal marina.
The advisory was formed after the township was approached by the majority stakeholder in the marina about possibly acquiring his slips. All discussions are based in the fundamental principal that the township only would and could acquire an interest in the facility to the extent that those who already have an interest in it are willing to negotiate with us and the outcome would be mutually beneficial. We are asking many question of slip owners and users about what they want and need, of harbormasters statewide about what it takes to run a marina, and of the DNR about running marinas and seeking grant funding for facility repairs and upgrades.
We welcome active participation by everyone at our meetings and strive to create an open, transparent environment where all ideas can be discussed. While meetings generally occur at 3:00PM on the second Tuesday of each month, this can vary. Please always check this web site's posted agenda to confirm meeting date and time.
