The Heritage Advisory was created with an initial charge of preserving,
cataloguing and sharing with the public the memorabilia and artifacts
related to Bertha Vos Elementary School. These items are the property of the
Traverse City Public School System, which has been kind enough to allow us
to look after these precious mementos of the 54 years of Bertha Vos until
they can be installed in a future new elementary school in Acme Township.
The Heritage Advisory is also beginning to work with the overall history of
our community as it embarks on the collection of oral histories and
artifacts from the lifelong residents of our community, many of whom come
from founding families. We are seeking to include both Anglo-American and
Native American history in the project.
Beth Whiting is the Heritage Advisory Chairperson. The group generally meets
once a month on a Friday at noon at the township hall.
Draft and approved minutes for each
meeting are posted here. Minutes that are still in draft
form (not yet approved as accurate at a subsequent meeting) are indicated as
such at the top of each page. Should you have questions or need further
assistance with issues related to minutes,
click here to send a message to
township staff.
***There may be hyperlinks in the minutes. If
you click on them, a new window will open that displays the information that
was in the meeting packets regarding that agenda item.***
