The Acme Township Fire Department is a volunteer fire department that is a division of Metro Fire Department.  Metro Fire Department consists of Acme Township (Battalion 8), East Bay Township (Battalion 9) and Garfield Township (Battalion 11). Metro Fire Department also has an Inspection Bureau with three inspectors. The Bureau conducts regularly scheduled inspections of businesses to promote fire safety and to enforce Grand Traverse County Ordinance 21.  The Fire Marshal, Brad Schnaidt, may be contacted at (231) 922-2077. Any administration questions regarding Acme Township or Metro Fire Departments should be directed to Metro Fire Department at (231) 922-4840.  Burning Permits are required in Grand Traverse County prior to burning.  To obtain a burning permit contact the Department of Natural Resources at (231) 922-5328.   If burning permits are allowed you will be asked to provide information about the location of your property including the section, town and range of your property.  If you have any difficulty locating this information contact the Township Office at (231) 938-1350 for assistance.
