ELECTION CONSOLIDATION

As of January 1, 2005 the State of Michigan passed new laws that affected a wide variety of broad and sweeping changes in Michigan’s elections system.  The elections will be restricted to four dates each year; this includes all federal, state, county, city, township, village and school elections.  Those dates are the fourth Tuesday in February and the first Tuesday after the first Monday in May, August and November.  Michigan’s county, city and township clerks will administer all local school district elections, intermediate school district elections and community college district elections.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR ACME VOTERS?

The main things that will affect voters in Acme Township are the following:

a.       All elections will be held in one single location

b.       Elections will be held on four dates: February, May, August and November

c.       All elections will be conducted by local clerks

Election locations and hours the polls will open and close:

a.       Acme Township Hall located at 6042 Acme Road, Williamsburg, Michigan 49690

b.       Polls open at 7:00 A.M. and close at 8:00 P.M.

Precincts polling place changes:

a.       Yes, Precinct 2 (formerly located at Bertha Vos Elementary School) will now be located at the Fire Hall adjacent to the Acme Township Hall at 6042 Acme Road.

b.       Precinct 1 location will remain in the Acme Township Hall at 6042 Acme Road

Please call Dorothy or Sharma if you have any questions!
